Send on Behalf configuration

In order to be able to send emails from Outlook (Exchange) on behalf of another person, you need to do the following:

On the MS Exchnage server

Open up Active Directory:

  1. Select the user's account that you want to be able to send on behalf of, and open up the account properties.
  2. Select the Exchange General tab.
  3. Click on Delivery Options
  4. Click Add and add the user (or users) that are to be granted permission to send on behalf of this account.
  5. Click Ok to close the Delivery Options dialog and Ok to close the account properties.

On the client computer:

Open up Oulook 2003 and:

  1. Click New to start a new mail message.
  2. If the message does not show a From field then go to the View menu and check From Field.
  3. Click From and select the account that you wish to send the email on behalf of.

Oulook 2007:

  1. Start a new message, then click OptionsShow From
  2. Click on From to select the email address from the list. (if you type in the address manually, it may not work)

Outlook 2010:

  1. Start a new message, then click OptionsFrom
  2. Click on the From button and select Other E-mail Address

Note: you can also try to type in the email address in the from field. On many occasions it may not work and you may get the following error:

You do not have permission to send to this recipient.  For assistance, contact your system administrator.
